Get your sweat on at these great workout studios in Charlotte

The Queen City is full of parks, bike trails, healthy spots to eat, and tons of workout studios. Clearly, we love to be healthy. It’s important to mix up your workout and try new classes and new instructors. Whether you like yoga, cycling, barre, or HITT, we’ve picked out the best workout studios in Charlotte to try.

Sweat Method

Sweat Method’s mission is to grow the fitness community through music, accessible language, and a well-rounded approach to HITT + Yoga. They offer three class types: FITT, Fusion, and Flow, so there is something for everyone. Fusion is the class you really don’t want to miss. It’s made for yoga skeptics who really want to take yoga, but also love HITT. Right now, they’re hosting FITT classes indoors and outdoors to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions.

Barry's Bootcamp

Have you been wanting to try the workout that all your favorite celebrities do (without flying out to NYC or LA)? Well, good news: Barry’s Bootcamp now has a studio in Charlotte. No two classes are the same at Barry’s, but there are general formats you can count on. If you’re in an original class, you’ll get 25 minutes of cardio on the treadmill with 25 minutes of strength training on the floor. Then there’s the Double Floor class, a full-strength, treadmill-free workout. You’ll still be sore the next day, even without the treadmill.

Carolina Barre & Core

The best place to start at Carolina Barre & Core is with their signature Barre Fusion class. This class is 60-minutes of strength conditioning, pilates, yoga, and ballet fundamentals in one hardcore workout. You’ll do planks, bicep curls, thigh work, and LOTS of isometric movements (aka small movements that will torch muscles you never knew you had). The last portion of class is dedicated to working your abs, so when they say this is a full-body workout, they mean it. Check out their studio in the back of Park Road Shopping Center.

F45

F45 has three locations in Charlotte, so you have no excuse not to give it a try. F45 is specifically designed to provide a functional full-body workout while improving energy levels, metabolic rate, strength, and endurance. The team mentality at F45 helps members transform their lifestyles physically and mentally while encouraging community growth and a no-ego attitude. Sign us up.

Hilliard Studio Method

Trying to tone up in time for a special occasion? Liz Hilliard and Clary Hilliard Gray understand. This mother-daughter duo created the Hilliard Studio Method when Clary wanted to get in shape for her wedding, and they’ve been working out together ever since. Liz used her pilates background to create a unique, core-focused workout, and now they have a studio in Eastover as well as a line of DVDs, and streaming options. If you’re a barre beginner, start with their Essential Method class, it moves at a slower pace than their traditional Method class, so it’s perfect if you’re still breaking those sticky socks in.

Cyclebar

Need a high-energy workout? CycleBar brings it. The instructors (aka CycleStars) will help you improve your performance and motivate you to reach your goals. Ride along to the beat of the music, and most importantly—have fun. Your CycleStats will measure the six key metrics of your daily and historical performance and email you the result after each ride to help track toward your fitness goal.

Pure Barre

In a Pure Barre class, you’ll use light weights, resistance bands, and a stability ball to work your whole body. Each Pure Barre routine is different, so you won’t get the same exact workout twice. You’ll keep your muscles guessing, but you can always expect to work your arms, thighs, glutes, and abs until they shake. Don’t be surprised if the instructor comes over to adjust your form at Pure Barre. The moves can be tricky at first, and they’re committed to making sure you don’t get hurt. There are three Pure Barre studios in Charlotte, so no matter where you live in the city, you won’t have to travel far to lift, tone, and burn those muscles.

Barre3

You don’t need any prior barre experience to get in on the action at barre3. They keep it simple with only one, open-level class style. Don’t worry, though — their experienced instructors will help you modify each move as you go, so it’s okay if you’re still getting the hang of that horse pose. And if you’ve got a little one, barre3 has a play lounge at the studio, so you won’t need to hire a babysitter just to get your workout in. If you live in South Charlotte, you can visit barre3 in Fort Mill. Can’t make it to the studio? Barre3 also offers online classes with a 15-day free trial.
